USD/EUR 700) for unlimited travel via JR network for 21 days.  You can buy such a Pass more than once,  means up to the entire your stay in Japan.

So why have you not be able to realize such a dream stay in Japan?

The immense obstacle which prevents you from enjoying a long-term stay in Japan is lack of suitable accommodation.

You got used to rent a furnished apartment for a month or one whole season, in French Riviera, Toscana, coastal villages in Spain or Portugal, or in Swiss mountains. But such comfortable furnished holiday apartment is almost non-exist in Japan.

Why? Because there is no such thing like “long-term holidays” for Japanese people, i.e. well-known hard-working species.

Traditionally, external accommodations available in Japan are limited to three types:

- Japanese style “Ryokan”. An overnight stay costs from around JPY 15,000, which includes spectacular diner and breakfast. But a stay in “Ryokan” is designed for only one night. The spectacular diner and breakfast served is every day the same.

- Western style Hotels. You pay around JPY 10,000 – 30,000, depending on the location and facilities, for an overnight stay in a single room with a kettle and own bath room, which are cozily packed into a space of 3m x 5m.

- Rented apartment or house. You pay a reasonable monthly rent. But you need to buy all appliances and furniture, pans and plates and cutlery and linens. You must pay a partially refundable deposit which is usually equal to two month’s rent. In addition, you must pay a non-refundable 1 or 2 month’s rent as thanks-money. And you are required to have a Japanese resident as a guarantor. And finding a Gaijin-welcoming landlord over the internet is challenging if not impossible.

If you can afford to pay USD/EUR 1,000 per night or so, then of course you can enjoy beautiful suite of 5 star hotels in the middle of Tokyo.

Over the last 2 decades, “share houses” are getting popular in the major cities like Tokyo. Share houses are usually cheap, available from JPY 60,000 per month. You stay in a tiny room. Toilet, shower and kitchen are shared by everyone staying in that share houses.

Recently you start seeing English-written web pages introducing furnished apartments in the major cities. You can find so called “Minpaku” space available from 3.3m2 per person via AirBnB or similar site.

But what you are looking for is, a comfortable furnished apartment, which you can easily find in French Riviera, Toscana, coastal villages of Spain or Portugal, or in Swiss mountains. We offer such a furnished apartment in the city of Sagamihara, Kanagawa.
